Halpha Environmental Testing Zone Survey/Strategy/Trap sectors

From PSO2: New Genesis Wiki
A trapped sector on the map. Note the lines crossing through the entrance hallways.

This page is a list of the types of traps you can expect to find in trapped sectors. All trap sectors have the "Defeat the enemies" objective, and upon completion reward a Photon Boost Crate.

Photon Boost Crates grant a single level in a buff not in the current list. It cannot provide Star buffs, but it can provide otherwise useless ones such as Throw Action Potency Up.

Time Bomb type

Upon entering the room, a bomb will appear in the center of the screen, along with a countdown circle. After sixty seconds pass, the bomb will explode, dealing multiple thousands of damage to all players within range of the sector as well as dealing 100% max HP damage to all enemies within the sector, clearing the objective.

The bomb cannot be disarmed unless every enemy in the sector is defeated before detonation, and the damage from the bomb cannot be sidestepped or parried. The bomb can be survived in the following ways:

Method A: Damage Resistance

  • The Hunter class skill Hunter Physique
  • Charging the Wire Lance Photon Art Hellish Fall (but not holding it after charge is finished)
  • The Waker class skill Marmelo Patience (once the Marmelo hold begins, and not during the parry window. Also may not work sometimes!)
  • Weapons that offer large immediate damage cuts, such as Foursis (Bastion Unit) and Codeck (Impervious Unit)

Method B: Endurance effects

  • Hunter's Iron Will
  • Fighter's Overload Insurance while Overload is active
  • Incapacitation Negation buff effects

Method C: Prayer

  • Breaking the Barriagle and escaping the sector before the bomb explodes (requires extremely high DPS if alone)
  • Using a Photon Blast before the attack goes off
  • Diving into a bottomelss pit before the attack goes off and being considered "out of bounds" while the hitbox is active
  • High levels of Damage Resistance Up buffs combined with high HP and base Defense from Armor Enhancement

If you choose to break out of the sector, stay near it but outside of the bomb's range. If the bomb goes off without any enemies visible, it won't defeat any of them and you'll need to clear the sector out yourself.

Double boss + Stun Mine type

Example of a Dizzy Trap sector. Note the red mine on the far left.

Corner sectors only.

A boss arena where two bosses spawn with a unique gimmick known as the Dizzy Trap. One will be a miniboss based on the sector's region, and the other will be a Starless enemy.

The Starless enemy will gain the effects of the Aberrant title, so these sectors are especially deadly on Potency Increase days.

The Dizzy Trap is a mine that activates upon stepping in the highlighted area of effect. It will detonate after time passes, and deal three hits of 1% max HP damage to players and bosses caught in the attack range.

Players will be inflicted with a large amount of Stun damage, while bosses will be inflicted with a unique status that halts movement for ten seconds.

Any attacks the bosses may be doing will continue, but once their attack string has finished, they will enter their idle state until the effect ends.

Storm Zone/Blizzard Zone type

Retem and Kvaris-style sectors only.

Upon entry, two tornadoes will spawn and begin circling around the sector. In Kvaris, they will be Blizzard Zone tornadoes, and can inflict the Freeze status. The tornadoes will disappear upon clearing the sector.

Beehive turret type

A sector where Beehive turrets fire at players while laser sensors scan for them.

Upon contact with a laser sensor, more Beehive turrets will spawn.
